Lead Practical Instructor:  Scott Graham. 

 

Scott has a long history of outdoor experience, including multiple Philmont treks.  When that experienced is paired with his certifications as a nationally certified Paramedic, a SOLO Wilderness EMT and an ECSI instructor, Scott brings a great perspective and knowledge base to the class.  Recently, Scott served as a medical equipment officer at the 2010 Jamboree, and helped to teach CPR to thousands of scouts.

Course Director:  Gary Musselman. 

 

Gary is a long time scouter and instructor for both ECSI and The Red Cross.  In addition to extensive backcountry experience, Gary has trained countless people to safely and effectively handle emergencies in any setting.  He is up to date not only with medical knowledge, but with BSA policies and legal concerns.

Lead Classroom Instructor:  Jansen Musselman. 

 

Jansen is a certified physician assistant specializing in emergency medicine and has been a paramedic since 2004.  In addition to being an ECSI and AHA instructor, he is also a certified Ohio EMS instructor and a SOLO trained Wilderness EMT.  He has led high adventure treks including Tinnerman and a week-long off shore kayaking trip. Recently, Jansen helped teach CPR to thousands of scouts at the 2010 National Jamboree.

Environmental Exposure Expert

 

Dr. Rob Kelly,.  In addition to being a medical doctor, Rob has a strong affinity for the outdoors—especially mountains.  He has led multiple treks to Philmont and has done extensive work with altitude related illnesses.

Adjunct Staff

 

These are the guys that make this course flow.  They handle meal preparation, housing, logistics, assist with the webpage, handle classroom setup, and assist with our scenarios

 

John Hogan:  John is a WFA course graduate and has since served as Gary’s right hand.

 

Bill Sheehan:  If John is Gary’s right hand, Bill is his left.  Bill works with John to keep things running smoothly, and he has a great knowledge of scouting policies.

 

Matt Shoaff:  Matt is either a professional caterer who does scouting on the side, or a scouter who does catering on the side—either way you know you are going to eat well!

 

Steve Garner:  Steve is a graduate of last year’s course, served on the medical staff for the council’s centennial camporee and is back this year to lend a hand
